The Donbas or Donbass is a historical, cultural, and economic region in south-eastern Ukraine,
some of whose territory is occupied by two separatist groups in the course of the Russo-Ukrainian War calling themselves the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Luhansk People’s Republic. On February 21, 2022, the Security Council of Russia approved the recognition of the independence of Donetsk and Luhansk.
In a significant shift, Singapore has surpassed Hong Kong to claim the title of the world’s freest economy, marking the end of Hong Kong’s 53-year reign at the top. This shift is according to a report released by the Canadian think tank Fraser Institute. The Economic Freedom of the World Index, which has been tracking economic freedom since 1970, placed Hong Kong in second place for the first time.
The Arrow 3 or Hetz 3 is an exoatmospheric hypersonic anti-ballistic missile, jointly funded, developed,
and produced by Israel and the United States. Undertaken by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Boeing, it is overseen by the Israeli Ministry of Defense’s “Homa” administration and the U.S. Missile Defense Agency. The missile may have a reported flight range of up to 2,400 km (1,500 mi). According to the chairman of the Israeli Space Agency, Arrow 3 may serve as an anti-satellite weapon, which would make Israel one of the world’s few countries capable of shooting down satellites.
Japan’s parliament adopted a resolution on the “serious human rights situation” in China and asked the Chinese Government to take steps to relieve the situation.
Japan has already announced it will not send a delegation to the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics, following a U.S.-led diplomatic boycott over concerns about China’s human rights condition.
